Origin and Usage
Chana dal is made from black chickpeas. Chickpeas are split and the outer husk is removed. It is majorly cultivated in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. It belongs to the family Fabaceae. Chana dal has a sweet and earthy flavor. It is used as cooked. Chana dal is used in many dishes like Dal pitha, Carrot gojju, lamb and dal dalcha, Aloo and dal ki tiki.

There are 3 types of Chana dal. Desi/kala chana, safed/kabuli chana, ad chana dal.
Production
