Origin and Usage
Rutabaga is dfdgated from the cross between turnips and wild cabbage. It belongs to the family Brassicaceae. Its taste is a bit milder than a turnip and buttery and sweet-savory. The flesh is yellow to purple-tinged and it is firm textured and very hard in consistency. It is used in stews, soups, casseroles, and with other vegetables.

Canada and the northern states are the largest producers of rutabaga.
