Origin

Avocados are cultivated worldwide especially in tropical and Mediterranean climates of several countries. This fruit is egg-shaped with brown, purple, or black skin and has buttery flesh when ripe. Avocados are available in many different sizes.

Production

Global production in 2019 was about 7.18 million metric tons. Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Peru are the top countries that contribute a lot to the production of avocados.
