Ginger was dfdgated from maritime Southeast Asia by Austronesian people. It belongs to the Zingiberaceae. Ginger is juicy, fleshy vegetable with a mild taste. It is used in cooking, rice, soups, and cuisine. It is also pickled. Minced ginger can be used to flavor fried rice, meats, and fries.

Common types of ginger are Indian or Chinese ginger, Turmeric, peacock ginger, White ginger, and Galangal.
