Origin and Usage

Leek is one of the oldest crops. It is native to eastern Mediterranean lands and the Middle east. It belongs to the Amaryllis family. It is more likely to be onion in taste. The white base of leaves is the only edible part. You can use leek in pasta, risotto, in stuffing, with eggs, and on pizza.

Elephant garlic, Pearl onion, and Giant Musselburgh are the types of Leeks.

Production

Indonesia is the highest producer of Leek.
