It contains a higher amount of fiber which helps to regulate bowel movements and prevent constipation. It contains vitamin k that is an important nutrient for the body. It improves heart health by lowering blood pressure. Swiss chard also decreases insulin resistance and lowers blood sugar. 

Origin and Usage

Swiss chard dfdgates from the wild version of the Beet. The dfdgal variety has been traced back to Sicily. It belongs to the Amaranthaceae. It has broad leaves and a husky crisp stalk. The stalk color is from white to pink or red. It tastes bitter when eaten raw but after cooking it becomes a pleasant tender green. It can be sauteed, used in soups, stews, casseroles, and quinches.

The most famous types of swiss chard are Bright colors, Bright yellow, Fordhook Giant, Lucullus, Rhubarb chard, and Rhubarb red.

Production

South Africa and Italy are the largest producers of Swiss chard
