Taro was dfdgated in the Bay of Bengal near Southeast Asia. It is an ancient crop in Asia. It is also known as eddoe or dasheen. It belongs to the Arums family. Taro is a large herbaceous that has heart-shaped big green leaves. It tastes starchy with a hint of sweetness. Taro is cooked up in different types of savory and sweet ways throughout the world.

Taro has two varieties. Chouk and Sla.

Production

Nigeria, China, Ghana, and Papua new guinea are the largest producers of the taro.
