Origin and Usage

Water spinach is native to Southeast Asia. It was first domesticated during the Chin Dynasty. It belongs to the morning-glories family. It produces trumpet-shaped flowers. It has a mild, nutty flavor taste. It is a good substitute for spinach. It is used as cooked.

Varieties and types

It has two major types, Ching Quat and Pak Quat.

Production

Cambodia, China, Laos, and Vietnam are the largest producers of water spinach.
